A teenager was airlifted from the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Old Beatty Ford Road Sunday afternoon.
Shayna Leonard, 16, of Salisbury, was in good condition Monday at Carolinas Medical Center.
She was a passenger in a 1986 Toyota pickup driven by Samuel Banks, 20, also of Salisbury.
According to Trooper C.R. Pierce of the N.C. Highway Patrol, Banks was traveling east on Old Beatty Ford Road when his truck ran off the right side of the road, struck a concrete culvert and overturned before coming to rest against a power pole.
Banks was charged with reckless driving.
Pierce said Banks refused medical treatment. He said the accident happened about 1 p.m. near Old Beatty Ford Road’s intersection with Roy Cline Road.
