The survivor of a fatal weekend car accident was released from the hospital a day after the wreck.
Amanda Marie Mounts, 17, of Salisbury, was a passenger in a car that overturned on Julian Road on Saturday morning.
The driver, Clinton Roscoe Thompson, 19, of China Grove, died Saturday. Both were thrown from the vehicle.
Thompson was trying to pass another car in a no-passing zone when his car crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, according to a N.C. Highway Patrol report. He overcorrected and the car swerved off the other side of the road, hitting a ditch.
Mounts was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center and then to Carolinas Medical Center, where she was released Sunday.
Thompson graduated from South Rowan High School in 2006 and was in the Air Force.
A service for Thompson is planned Thursday at 11 a.m. at Summersett Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Summersett Funeral Home.
