Staff report
A man used a toy gun to rob a Statesville Boulevard restaurant Monday night, police said.
According to Salisbury Police Sgt. John Lanier, a tall, thin white male wearing dark clothing, a green hooded sweatshirt and a black ski mask walked into the Little Caesars restaurant at 2143 Satesville Blvd. brandishing a gun and grabbed the cash drawer from the register.
Lanier said several employees were in the business at the time. No one was hurt and the small revolver turned out to be a toy. Police found the gun, along with the cash drawer and some money, near the business shortly after the 8:15 p.m. robbery.
After the suspect stole the cash drawer, Lanier said, he ran behind the building toward the Salisbury Gardens Retirement Home.
Lanier said he wasn’t sure how much money the suspect got from the business.
Police hadn’t made an arrest late Monday.
