Abundant Living receives $35,000 grant
The Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Foundation has awarded a $35,000 grant to purchase a fire protection system for Abundant Living Adult Day Care.
The foundation awarded grants totaling $1.2 million to 32 nonprofit organizations in Buncombe, Cherokee, Durham, Edgecombe, Gaston, Guilford, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Nash, New Hanover, Rowan, Rutherford, Transylvania, Wake, Wayne, Wilkes and Yancey counties, and in Chester County, S.C.The grant funds will be used for a wide variety of purposes by the organizations. Supported programs include affordable housing, children’s services, education, food distribution, health care, literacy skills, services to the elderly and social services.
Lutheran Services for the Aging in Salisbury provides support services for seniors, including nursing care, adult day care and retirement living. The Iredell County Health Department in Statesville will receive $30,887 to purchase equipment for a dental clinic.
Since 1996, the foundation has awarded 774 grants totaling more than $36 million.
