Tim Smith, Scoutmaster of Troop 401, recently had his 30th Eagle Scout, Kurt Stebe, successfully complete the Rowan District Board of Review.
Smith’s story began in 1995. At that time the troop membership had dwindled from 20 to two youth. The troop almost ceased to exist. But by January 1996, 35 youth had become active members of the troop.
In Salisbury, three Boy Scout Troops have Scout buildings close to the church that sponsors them.
Troop 448, which is 75 years old, has the Jack Kepley building. Troop 401, which is 65 years old, has a Scout Hut behind Sacred Heart Catholic church, and Troop 403, which is 40 years old, has a Scout Hut behind Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
