Police seize eight pit bulls, arrest owner

Salisbury Police officers seized eight pit bulls from an East Cemetery Street residence today and arrested Brad Terrence Simpson on two counts of dog fighting.

Simpson, 27, was arrested at his residence and taken before a Rowan County magistrate at which time he was given a $5,000 bond and placed in the Rowan County Detention Center.

The eight pit bulls have been turned over to the Rowan County Animal Shelter.

Police executed a search warrant at 520 1/2 E. Cemetery St. on May 23 and seized a videotape of dog fighting from the residence.

In that raid, which included three houses on the street, officers with the cityps gang unit also collected drugs, weapons and prescription medicines.

A continuing investigation led to the charges today against Simpson.
