Police find pot plants in man's bedroom closet

A Rockwell man was charged Friday after authorities found marijuana growing in his bedroom closet.
Christopher Randolph Lawson, 25, of 180 Hard Rock Drive, was arrested on a warrant for assault with a deadly weapon. During the arrest, a deputy found a small amount of marijuana and $2,600 in Lawson’s pocket.
Rowan County Sheriff’s investigators searched the home and uncovered five plants, which were 8 to 12 inches tall, inside the master bedroom closet, a press release said.
Additional growing paraphernalia, scales, baggies, marijuana and a pistol grip shotgun were also found in the home.
Lawson was charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession with the intent to sell marijuana, possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances and possession of a firearm by a felon.
He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
