The N.C. Department of Transportation will begin paving N.C. 150 Tuesday from Jones Road SR 1760 to Miller Road.
The work will consist of putting down an Asphalt Surface Treatment (AST) course.
The reason for this paving is to help with the reflective cracking that is caused by the concrete underneath the existing asphalt.
This initial paving should take about three to four days.
After that work is completed, APAC Construction will begin resurfacing the road May 19 with 1.5 inches of plant mix.
During the time between the AST paving and the plantmix paving, motorists are being asked to reduce their speed and following distance between themselves and the cars in front of them.
The AST paving can produce dust resulting in a reduction in visibility at times. The DOT adds that the roadwork will cause delays for the motorists, and it suggests taking an alternate route.
