From staff reports
An early morning fire at an unoccupied house on Bringle Ferry Road is being investigated by the Rowan fire marshal and sheriff’s offices.
A passing motorist alerted firefighters of flames at the home at 2755 Bringle Ferry Road at about 2:26 a.m. Saturday.
“It was fully involved when we got there,” Union Fire Chief Steve Cauble said. “There were flames coming through the roof.”
It took just less than an hour to extinguish the fire, he said.
No one was home at the time. Cauble said the house is being remodeled.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
“It’s under investigation,” Cauble said.
