‘Chuck’ Knece Jr.
Charles Richard “Chuck” Knece Jr., 69, 2205 Glendale Avenue, died March 12, 2008, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham.
Born Aug. 1, 1938, in Circleville, Ohio, Mr. Knece was a son of the late Charles Richard and Rosemary Burton Knece.
He retired in 1982 from the U.S. Navy as a master chief and later worked for Dominion Yarn, Landis, and Pass and Seymour Legrand, Concord. He also worked part-time for Auto Zone.
He was a member of Poston Perkins VFW Post 8989 and past member of the PSA Shag Club.
His son, Detective Richard Davis Jr., and adopted father, Francis Cleveland, preceded him in death.
Survivors include wife Kay Mattox Knece; three daughters, Caren Bates, Kannapolis, Crystal Atwell, China Grove, and Toni Moore, Cherryville; adopted mother Gladys Cleveland, Kannapolis; 12 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
A service was held Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Lady’s Funeral Home. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, with military rites by the U.S. Navy.
