NAMI Rowan offers education course
The Peer-to-Peer Recovery Education course being offered next month by NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Rowan is designed to help people with mental illness learn to manage it.
Taught by people who have learned to do that, the classes in the course challenge the stigma associated with mental illness by providing positive ways for those diagnosed to empower themselves and their peers to work toward recovery.
The Peer-to-Peer Recovery Education Course ó offered two hours a week for nine weeks ó embraces a well-rounded approach to recovery including individual empowerment, family and peer support, relapse prevention, communication skills and general health.
For more information about the course or to sign up for the next course beginning in September, call Sarah Boyd at 704-636-2780 or Darlene Calvert at 704-636-0797.
