KANNAPOLIS ń David H. Murdock will host an open house for administrators and scientists at the North Carolina Research Campus this evening.
Murdock and guests will tour interim offices set up near the campus for researchers from N.C. A&T State University, N.C. State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The event starts at 5 p.m. and lasts until about 7 p.m. at the 100 block of West Avenue.
The arrival of researchers at the campus represents a significant step for the fast-moving life sciences project. With the core laboratory building nearing completion and buildings for nutritional and agri-science research on the rise, the campus is moving closer to fulfilling its promise to bring together the research power of leading universities, the job training programs of community colleges and the know-how of business.
The results of this collaboration are projected to provide a strong biotech corridor in North Carolina, 21st Century jobs and research discoveries that improve the health of people around the world.
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and N.C. Central University will also play active and important roles in research at the campus. Officials are currently scouting possible interim offices for researchers from those institutions.
