Motorcycle accident

A Salisbury motorcyclist was injured Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of Choate and Old Union Church roads.
Jeff Swing, 39, was riding a 2001 Ducati when, according to an N.C. Highway Patrol report, he ran off the right side of the road. The motorcycle overturned and Swing was thrown off.The motorcycle came to rest in the roadway while Swing was left lying in a ditch.
According to the Highway Patrol, Swing was non-responsive at the scene. He was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, but a hospital spokeswoman said there was no information on his condition available Friday afternoon.
A spokeswoman for the Rowan-Salisbury School System said Swing was in stable condition at Carolinas Medical Center. Swing’s wife, Michelle, is a teacher at Hanford Dole Elementary, which is close to the site of the accident.
