Miss Cabarrus County Pageant accepting contestants

The 2009 Miss Cabarrus County and Cabarrus County Outstanding Teen pageants and 2008 Miss Cabarrus County Youth pageants are to be held Nov. 1 at Mount Pleasant High School.
The pageants are open to contestants in Cabarrus and Rowan counties.
In the Miss Cabarrus County pageant, prospective contestants must be at least 17 years old and a high school senior and can be no older than 24 years old on Dec. 31.
The pageant is open to contestants who live, work or attend school in Cabarrus or Rowan.
The Miss Cabarrus County Scholarship Pageant is a forerunner to the Miss North Carolina and Miss America pageants.
The Outstanding Teen Pageant is open to girls ages 13 to 17 from Cabarrus and Rowan counties. A forerunner to the North Carolina Outstanding Teen and Miss America Outstanding Teen competitions, the pageant promotes scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement.
The entry fee for the Cabarrus County Outstanding Teen Pageant is $150.
Winners of both will compete in the statewide competition in Raleigh in June.
The deadline for entering both is Oct. 19.
Youth pageant
The Miss Cabarrus County Youth Pageant is the annual fundraiser for the Miss Cabarrus County organization.
Age divisions are Baby Miss, birth to 2 years old; Tiny Miss, 3-5 years old; Little Miss, 6-8 years old; Young Miss, 9-12 years old; and Teen Miss, 13-17 years old. A Youth Majestic Miss Cabarrus County competition, in memory of Donna Shaver, will accept contestants 6-17 years old.
All contestants receive trophies and each title winner will receive a $100 U.S. Savings Bond, crown, trophy, flowers and will make appearances during her reign. The Youth Majestic Miss winner will receive an additional $50 cash prize.
Entry fees are $100 plus $20 for the optional talent competition and $20 per picture for the optional photogenic competition.
The entry deadline for a contestant’s name to appear in the program book is Oct. 22. The final deadline is Oct. 29.
Contestants in the pageants also sell advertising in the program guide.
Contestants and chaperones will attend a reception with 2008 Miss North Carolina Amanda Watson on Oct. 26 at the Cabarrus Country Club.
