Joshua Walker
Seaman Joshua M. Walker graduated May 2, 2008, from The Great Lakes Training Center in Chicago, Ill.
He will be going to Mississippi for “A” School. Upon completing the course of study there, he will be a Seabee.
Walker is a 2003 graduate of South Rowan High School. He is the son of the Rev. Loran C. Walker and Janice Walker of Salisbury.
Loren Martin
Air Force Airman Loren D. Martin has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, he studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Martin is the son of Aaron and Emma Martin of Salisbury.
John Swindel
United States Marine Corp PFC John M. Swindel has graduated from boot camp in Parris Island, S.C.
During his 13 week training, he studied tradition and Corp values, physical training, basic CPR, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat training, martial arts, Navy Seal capable swim training, military weapons and chemical warfare, bayonet training, drill and ceremony marching field tactics, military courtesy, foot marches and field training exercises.
He served as squad leader after meritorious promotion to PFC during boot camp. Upon completion of the “Crucible,” Swindel received his anchored globe and eagle. He is presently continuing in MCT training at Camp Geiger.
Swindel is a graduate of North Rowan High School.
He is the son of Carmen and Larry Swindel of Salisbury.
Kera GrahamAir Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Kera L. Graham has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Graham is the daughter of Charlene Graham of Jackson, Tenn., and granddaughter of Catherine Shipp of Spencer.
She is a 1993 graduate of South Rowan High School, China Grove.
