Rowan Helping Ministries and Park Avenue United Methodist Church are discussing a cooperative project that will assist the neighborhood and the clients of the nonprofit agency.
Organizers have scheduled a meeting for 10 a.m. Friday to discuss a future project that they have dubbed The Park Avenue Project.
The meeting will take place at Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 500 Park Ave.
The project aims to address:
– The needs in the Park Avenue neighborhood and
– The needs of “select Rowan Helping Ministries clients who would benefit from a structured daytime environment for learning basic life skills in a classroom setting.”
Organizers have not been any more specifics of what they have in mind.
“We are at the ‘mustard seed’ stage of developing this project,” Dianne Scott, executive director of Rowan Helping Ministries, and the Rev. Annalee Allen, pastor of Park Avenue Methodist, said in an e-mail.
Rowan Helping Ministries building, at 226 N. Long St., sits on the southwest corner of the Park Avenue neighborhood.
Scott and Allen say Friday’s gathering will serve as “our first brainstorming session.”
“At the meeting, you can learn more about how you and others can get involved in developing this unique project,” the two leaders said in their e-mail.
“Please set aside an hour to join with other members of our community to create connections that will bring about change, renewal and, most of all, the development of human potential. Feel free to invite others who might be interested.”
People who would like to attend the meeting should enter the church by the covered-porch entrance on Shaver Street.
