Man making explosives injures hand

A young man injured his hand in an explosion Thursday night.
Emergency officials responded to a house at 122 Newsome Road around 10 p.m.
According to police scanners, the man was making an explosive when the accident happened.
His sister said she was on her way to the hospital to be with him.
The man’s name is not known at this time.
The two-story home is owned by Byron Brush Construction Inc., according to property records. There is a “for rent” sign in the front yard.
Salisbury police remained at the home but were unavailable for comment. The crime scene unit responded, as well as a K9 unit.
