Staff report
A Salisbury man previously charged in connection with an April 10 incident at the Rock Bottom Saloon on Klumac Road is back in jail on more charges.
Edward Lee Coughenour, 40, of 418 W. Bank St., was charged Thursday with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, second-degree kidnapping and carrying a concealed handgun into an establishment that sells alcohol.
Information contained in the warrant accuses Coughenour of carrying a .38-caliber pistol into the Rock Bottom Saloon.
His bond was set at $25,000 with his first court appearance scheduled for April 21.
The warrant includes the notation that Coughenour had previously posted a $20,000 bond but was continuing to harass the victim, James Michael Johnson of Cannon Farm Road, China Grove.
Salisbury police previously said Coughenour exchanged words with Johnson, the boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend.
In the April 10 incident, police officers responding to the Rock Bottom Saloon, had to shoot the tires out on Coughenour’s Dodge Ram pickup to make him stop.
