Greg Lowe of Salisbury will be recognized Monday during National Volunteer Week by Drum Corps International.
Lowe is one of three volunteers from across the nation to be awarded the 2008 Drum Corps International Volunteer of the Year award for his dedication and commitment to Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps of Fort Mill, S.C.
Lowe is being honored for more than 15 years of volunteer and fund raising efforts with Carolina Crown. He coordinates the housing arrangements for the 150-member ensemble traveling coast to coast each summer. He also manages an online service that raises funds for Carolina Crown through ticket sales to drum and bugle corps competitions across the nation, and serves on Carolina Crown’s board of directors.
Drum Corps International is an association of more than 40 drum and bugle corps ensembles, each comprised of up to 150 brass, percussion and color guard students aged 14 to 22.
Lowe will also be honored in August on the field of Memorial Stadium at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., during the 2008 DCI World Championships.
