EAST SPENCER ó A local musical group, with help from a fraternity, will hand out school supplies free at two locations Thursday.
You don’t need to sign up in advance to get the supplies provided by East Spencer hip hop artists Untouched Entertainment. First to come will be first served until the supplies run out.
The giveaway starts at Kujimani After-School Program, 207 S. Long St., from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday.
Then, the event moves to the Salisbury Civic Center, 315 Martin Lutheran King Jr. Ave., where volunteers will hand out supplies from 5 to 7 p.m.
“We’re giving away school supplies for two reasons mainly,” the local artists said in a press release. “One, to show our kids here in Salisbury how important education is, and, two, that there are still some young African-American men out here who are concerned about and active in the life and growth of our community.”
Members of Omega Psi Phi fraternity are assisting Untouched Entertainment in distributing the school supplies.
