The Rowan County Literacy Council has just completed a Laubach workshop for new tutors. The workshop was conducted by trainers Clyde Harriss, Dot Hurley, Phyllis Martin and Carolyn Myers.
The training is for non-professional people who would like to help others improve their reading skills or teach English as a Second Language to foreign-born residents.
Tutors completing the thirteen hour course were Joyce Alexander, Ilse de Leon, Connie Sherrill and Jim Smith.
The Literacy Council offers tutoring services to any adult sixteen and older. Anyone wanting to register for the next workshop or to receive tutoring help should call the Literacy Office at 704-216-8266.
