After nearly 16 years with the Salisbury Police Department, Lt. Mike Dummett is leaving to take a job as police chief of the Raeford Police Department.
He’ll be sworn into office April 28. His last work day in Salisbury is April 25.
The veteran police commander began with Salisbury Police in 1992 and has worked in various positions beginning with patrol, drug investigations, as a sniper and most recently commander over the special response team.
“I wish him the very best,” said Salisbury Police Chief Mark Wilhelm.
He said he believes the Hoke County police department has about 20 employees.
Dummett will replace Kevin Locklear, who was fired in December, according to the Fayetteville Observer.
