Lenoir-Rhyne graduate
Sara Beaver is a summa cum laude graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory. She received a bachelor of science degree in biology with honors and a minor in history on May 9.
Beaver received the Celia Willard Medal in Biology and the Distinguished Scholar Award. She participated in the Honors Academy, received the Best All Around Honors Thesis Award and was named Playmakers’ Best Supporting Actress for her role as Mrs. Banks in “Barefoot in the Park.”
She was also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Pi Gamma Mu and Phi Alpha Theta honors fraternities.
She is working this summer on a research study on elk nutrition at Yellowstone National Park. She will start a teaching assistantship and graduate program in botany/ecology at the University of Wyoming at Laramie this fall.
A 2004 graduate of Salisbury High School, she is the daughter of Trip and Carol Beaver of Salisbury.
