Lassiter tapped to head N.C. women’s organization

Beverly W. Lassiter was installed May 3 as the 55th president of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs ń North Carolina during the recent convention in Charlotte.
Lassiter is a member and past president of the Charlotte Woman’s Club and past president of the GFWC Junior Woman’s Club of Charlotte.
Over the past 20 years, she has been president-elect, corresponding secretary, membership co-chairman, third vice president and director of juniors for the state organization. She is an honorary life member and winner of the Minnie Lou Parker Creech Outstanding General ClubWoman of the Year Award and the Linda G. White Outstanding Junior Clubwoman of the Year Award.
She also serves General Federation of Women’s Clubs – International. In 2001, she helped create her position as juniorette chairman and has just completed her term as assistant to the director of Junior Clubs.
Her special project will be “Girls on the Run,” which uses an interactive curriculum and running to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. The state executive committee has set a $50,000 goal to support its programs.
Daughter of Gene and Lenny Wolfe of Salisbury, she and husband John have two sons, Ben and Alex, and live in Charlotte.
