Authorities arrested a Landis man Tuesday on charges of taking indecent liberties with a child in Haywood County.
The Haywood County Sheriff’s Office charged James Edgar Barnes Jr., 59, of 719 S. Chapel Road, Landis, with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.
The charges stem from alleged incidents last December, according to an arrest warrant at the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office.
The warrant stated that the child was under the age of 16 but did not state the child’s age.
Barnes was jailed at the Rowan County Detention Center under a $40,000 bond.
