Kannapolis to show ‘Transformers’ at Village Park on Friday

KANNAPOLIS ó The city will host a free outdoor showing of the blockbuster movie ‘Transformers’ starting at 8:45 p.m. Friday at the Village Park Amphitheater between West A and C streets off Dale Earnhardt Boulevard.
The free movie is part of the summer events series sponsored by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department and Ike’s Construction.
To be shown on the 40-by-20-foot Time Warner Big Screen, the movie focuses on the young Sam Witwhicky as he and his friend find themselves in a war between the Autobots and the Decepticons and are mankind’s last chance of survival. It’s rated PG-13.
Parking is available at the Village Park parking lot. Blankets, lawn chairs and picnics are permitted. Those attending are asked not to bring pets, alcohol, grills or glass bottles.
Family friendly movies will be shown at Village Park on select Fridays through Aug. 15. Upcoming movies include “Evan Almighty,” “Hairspray” and “We Are Marshall.”
Other sponsors are Cabarrus Arts Council, WCNC, Toyota of Concord, Radio Disney, Walker Marketing, Regions Bank, Bank of America and Cici’s Pizza, which will be selling pizza on site.
