KANNAPOLIS ó A Kannapolis man faces charges after authorities say he burglarized his grandparents’ home.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged David Alex Brown, 34, of the streets of Kannapolis, with burglary, felony larceny, possession of stolen property, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff’s Office reports said Brown kept ringing the doorbell early Friday at the Superior Avenue home of Leroy and Kathleen Castor.
It began around 1 a.m. and Brown didn’t stop until the Castors went to the door.
“He pushed through the storm door and pushed the grandfather aside,” Rowan Sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford said.
Brown then took Kathleen Castor’s purse, which contained money and credit cards, Sifford said.
When authorities found Brown and searched his pockets, they found 10 crack cocaine rocks.
Crack cocaine typically costs about $20 per rock, Sifford said.
Brown was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under $25,000 bond.
