An inmate in the Cabarrus County Jail died Sunday after suffering a seizure.
Timothy Andrew Parker apparently had the seizure Saturday shortly before noon. Other inmates alerted jail officials. The jail nurse examined Parker and found him unresponsive. He was transported to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast. He died Sunday morning.
The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division began an investigation and found no evidence that an altercation occurred in the jail. The investigation is continuing, however, and Parker’s body was sent to the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office in Charlotte for an autopsy.
“Without information from the autopsy available at this time, it is very early to verify a definitive cause of death,” said Sheriff Brad Riley. He said the investigation revealed that Parker “had previously suffered severe medical injuries that could have possibly contributed to his death.”
Parker, 23, of Concord, had been jailed May 13, for a probation violation with bond set at $3,000.
