Immunization clinic is April 23

The Rowan County Health Department will hold a Tdap immunization clinic for children entering the sixth grade on April 23 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
A booster dose of the Tdap vaccine ó which protects against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis ó is now required for children in public schools prior to entering the sixth grade. Children attending private, religious or home schools are required to receive the vaccine by age 12.The vaccine is offered free at the Health Department, located at 1811 E. Innes St. Parents planning to take their children should call 704-216-8786 for an appointment.
The Tdap vaccine is also available at local doctors’ offices. There is no cost for the vaccine, but those offices may charge a small fee to administer it.
