The president of the Rowan County Humane Society reminds local residents to keep their animals “safe and secure” during tonight’s Independence Day celebrations.
“Every year, we receive multiple calls about animals that have run away from home during fireworks,” Jane Hartness said. “Please prevent this heartbreak from happening.”
The Humane Society will hold its quarterly general meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the Stanback Room of the Rowan Public Library on West Fisher Street. The public is invited to attend and help plan events for the organization’s 35th anniversary celebration.
