Holiday events galore in Downtown Salisbury this weekend

Downtown Salisbury will be brimming with holiday happenings this weekend.
At the F&M Trolley Barn, 127 E. Liberty St., the annual Arc of Rowan Festival of Trees will be showing off 50+ trees decorated and sponsored by local businesses and groups. The event is free to the public.
The event takes place Friday, 7 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 11a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. The Grinch will be on hand for photos on Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday to 3 p.m. A story time for “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” will take place Saturday 4:15 to 5 p.m.
The Arc/Rowan Rowan County, a United Way Agency, advocates for people with developmental disabilities. This is the group’s sixth festival of Trees, their signature event and largest fundraiser. Corporate sponsors are Food Lion, Sara Lee, Rowan County United Way and F & M Bank.

The annual Celebration of Angels takes place 10-11 a.m. Saturday in the Eastern Gateway Park, 300 E. Innes St. The free event features live music by choruses from Rockwell and Shive Elementary Schools, Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church children’s choir, Amadeus Youth Chorus and soloist Adam Broyles. There will be storytelling by Dr. Karl Hales, a display of angel art, Santa and Mrs. Claus, children’s activities, hot chocolate and cookies.
Salisbury Symphony Guild Christmas Homes Tour is Downtown this year. “Christmas in the City” will be held Saturday, 3-7 p.m. and Sunday, 2-6 p.m.
This sixth annual event will showcase seven downtown residences decorated in holiday finery, along with performances by strolling musicians. Some downtown merchants will offer a 10% discount to Tour guests with presentation of their ticket.

The 400 block of North Lee Street in the Rail Walk Arts District is the place to be this weekend for those looking for unique, handmade gifts.
Rail Walk Studios and Gallery second annual Art and Fine Crafts Christmas Show and Sale takes place 5-9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 5 at 409-413 N. Lee St. There will be work on display by 12 artists, along with refreshments.

Next door, at 405-407 N. Lee St., the Looking Glass Artist Collective will also be holding their second Art and Fine Crafts Christmas Sale, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event includes 15 artist booths, refreshments, and entertainment by local children’s choirs.
Photographer David Lamanno will be photographing people and pets with his antique view camera. Chair massages will be offered. And the Looking Glass gift shop will be open.
