Hobbs wins music scholarship – Education news

Music scholarship
Anna Hobbs of China Grove received the Charles B. and Margenette A. Hinnant Music Scholarship at Mount Olive College’s Annual Awards Day.
The scholarship is given in memory of the Hinnants. He was a member of the Mount Olive College Board of Trustees for many years. The recipient, a music major who exhibits exceptional talent, is chosen by the music faculty.
Hobbs, an incoming freshman, is the daughter of Barry and Joy Hobbs of China Grove, NC. A senior at South Rowan High School, she plans to major in vocal performance.
Pinning ceremony
Ten students graduating next month from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College with an associate degree in radiography participated in an April 25 pinning ceremony.
They include Pamela Hession, Tanya Holler, Kristin Honeycutt, Tracey Jones, Tamara Kepley, Brandi McIntyre, Marie Phillips, Michelle Russell, Andree Sloan and Tana Wilhelm.
All will be eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification examination. Certification allows one to perform medical imaging routines, including surgery, trauma and fluorographic exams, and provides a pathway to advanced certifications.
Salem scholarship
Kaycee Leigh Ingram of Mount Ulla has received a merit-based scholarship from Salem College for the 2008-09 academic year.
The Presidential Scholarship is valued at $15,000 per year.
Invited students competed for merit awards during Salem’s annual Scholarship Weekend in March, recognizing high school seniors or transfer students with exemplary talents and academic records.
Ingram is the daughter of Jill and Christopher Ingram.
