Hagan hits Dole on her Kansas ties
WAYNESVILLE (AP) ó U.S. Senate candidate Kay Hagan is mocking her opponentís background, telling incumbent Sen. Elizabeth Dole to go back to her husbandís home state.
Haganís campaign plans a party for Thursday evening with supporters in Haywood County who will decorate ruby red slippers. Doleís husband, Bob, was a senator from Kansas and Hagan has often joked that Dole should click her heels three times and go back, riffing off the ěThe Wizard of Ozî theme.
North Carolinaís senator was born in Salisbury and has never lived in Kansas, but she was registered to vote there for 25 years. Bob Dole now lives in Washington.
Haganís campaign says ruby red slippers decorating parties will be taking place throughout the state. Haganís daughter, Carrie, will attend Thursdayís event in Waynesville.
