Granite Quarry man charged with sex offenses

GRANITE QUARRY ó A man was placed under $250,000 bond Monday after being charged with taking indecent liberties with a child and statutory rape.
Matthew Trent Mauldin, 31, of 102 Coley Road, Apt. 37, was scheduled for a first-appearance hearing today in Rowan County District Court. The offenses are alleged to have occurred on Sunday, according to arrest reports, which identified the victim as being 15.
Magistrates said Mauldin has a lengthy criminal record.
Mauldin is listed as living at 1000 Buick Ave., Kannapolis, in other warrants issued Monday charging him with two counts of financial card theft and three counts of financial card fraud. He is charged with using a stolen bank check/debit card on four occasions for gas, cigarettes and $100 and $200 in cash, according to arrest reports.
