Sisters get degrees
Sisters Monica Turner and Melody Turner Monroe have received master’s degrees.
Turner graduated Dec. 16 from N.C. Central University in Durham with a master of library science degree.
A North Carolina Teaching Fellow, Turner is a 1991 honor graduate of Salisbury High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in speech pathology and audiology from Appalachian State University in Boone in 1995 and a master’s degree in speech pathology and audiology from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg in 1997.
Turner is a speech therapist in the Cleveland County Schools.
Monroe graduated in December from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., with a master of arts degree in arts management.
Also a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, Monroe is a 1995 honor graduate of Salisbury High School and a 1999 honor graduate of ASU with a bachelor of music degree in music education.
Formerly employed by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Monroe is now an elementary school music teacher in the Montgomery County Public Schools in Germantown, Md.
Monroe and husband, Kevin, live in Germantown, Md., with sons, Kevin Jr. and Kenneth.
Both Turner and Monroe are the daughters of the Rev. William and Patricia Turner of Salisbury.
Forsyth Tech graduate
Angela Sue Deal of China Grove is a December honors graduate of Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem with an associate degree in nursing.
Deal has accepted a position with Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
