Gold Hill Rail Trail Hike offered Saturday
The Historic Gold Hill and Mines Foundation Inc. is inviting people to hike and explore the Gold Hill Rail Trail Saturday, highlighting the history of gold mining in eastern Rowan County.
Interpretive tours of the sites and landmarks along the trail as it passes through Gold Hill Mines Historic Park will be conducted from 1 to 5 p.m.
Musical entertainment will be provided from 4 to 5 p.m., and shops in the village of Gold Hill will be open for Mother’s Day shopping.
The Gold Hill Rail Trail is a 6.92-acre property protected by The LandTrust for Central North Carolina in 1997. A portion of the property is maintained as a public trail.
