Gas line ruptures on Statesville Boulevard

Salisbury firefighters were on the scene of a gas leak for nearly two hours Sunday evening.
According to emergency radio traffic, a line to a residence at 1710 Statesville Blvd. ruptured around 6:30 p.m. when a utility building collapsed on it.
Firefighters monitored the gas in the residence and surrounding area until a Piedmont Natural Gas crew arrived to shut off the gas and make repairs.
Firefighters cleared the scene around 8:30 p.m.
No other information was available Sunday evening.
