KANNAPOLIS ó A Kannapolis man reported finding nearly three dozen marijuana seedlings growing on property he owns last week.
And, Vic Mullis said Tuesday, “It’s not the first time.”
He’s found seedlings on the same Georgia Avenue property once before.
On Friday, Mullis went to check his property to make sure nothing had been stolen because the area has experienced “a lot of theft and vandalism,” he said.
While checking the property, Mullis noticed the cover was off his well house. When he attempted to replace the cover, he found 32 marijuana seedlings inside.
Mullis called the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
The seedlings, ranging in height from 1 to 11/2 inches tall, were in a tray.
Mullis said he figures the seedlings hadn’t been there long because of the height, and they weren’t there the last time he checked.
Mullis routinely checks his properties but also encourages neighbors to look out for one another.
“We have to look out for each other. I encourage them to be a lookout in their community,” he said.
Mullis hopes enough neighbors will be interested to form a Neighborhood Watch. He’s looking into planning a meeting in the near future.
He said items have been stolen from his Georgia Avenue property and other property he owns and that he believes the thefts are connected to drugs.
