Patrons at Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries, 475 JakeAlexander Blvd. W., can make a contribution this Thursday evening to the Family Crisis Council’s Battered Women’s Shelter.
Through the restuarant’s “celebrity chef” program, a volunteer from a local nonprofit can don traditional chef gear ó a jacket and hat ó and help greet and serve customers, according to manager David Hendry.
The charity gets $1 for every sandwich sold while the celebrity chef is on duty. The restaurant also puts out donation jars. The Battered Women’s Shelter will benefit from the celebrity chef program Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. In this case, the volunteer celebrity will be a member of UAW local 3520’s Community Services Committee.
Hendry said the celebrity chef program raised $900 recently for Joshua Lippard, who was injured in an accident.
