The Salisbury Police had two people in custody minutes after the First Bank at the corner of Jake Alexander Boulevard and Old Concord Road was robbed this morning.
Officials said a man wearing a hoodie and dark sunglasses presented a note to a teller demanding money.
No weapon was displayed. The man walked out of the bank and across the parking lot, Chief Deputy Steve Whitley said at the scene.
He was seen getting into a white mid-sized sport utility vehicle.
Whitley said officers had stopped a similar vehicle just down the road.
Police Chief Mark Wilhelm confirmed that two people had been arrested.
This branch of First Bank has been robbed several times in the past, most recently in January. It was also robbed in September 2001 and May 2002. In March 2006, two women attempted to rob the bank, but got scared and left. In February 2006, a man who robbed a Kannapolis bank cased First Bank with the intent to rob it also, authorities said.
