Fire heavily damages Kannapolis house
KANNAPOLIS ó Fire heavily damaged a Ford Street home Monday morning, the Kannapolis Fire Department said.
Firefighters responded to a call at 603 Ford St. just after 10 a.m. and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the house, a press release said.
The department dispatched a total of 24 personnel and 11 pieces of apparatus from four stations to the blaze. The Cold Water, Enochville and Landis volunteer fire departments assisted, along with Cabarrus County EMS.
Firefighters first arrived on the scene at 10:07 a.m., three minutes after being dispatched. They had the blaze under control at 10:31 a.m.
Damage to the house is estimated at $70,000.
No one was home at the time of the fire. The Cabarrus County chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the family.
