Harrison’s essay receives honorable mention in contest
Benjamin Lee Harrison of Salisbury received an honorable mention for his essay in the Sons of Confederate Veterans 2006 history essay contest for middle and high school students in North Carolina.
Harrison’s essay was on Thomas’ Legion. He was sponsored by SCV Camp 405, the Rowan Rifles.
An Emory & Henry sophomore, who serves as the student manager for the Emory & Henry College Dining Service, was one of 15 students selected nationwide to serve on the Student Board of Directors for Sodexho USA.
Jerod Brown of Mooresville, was one of more than 300 students from colleges and universities who applied for membership on the board. The Sodexho Student Board of Directors provides the national food-service company with feedback on what students prefer in on-campus dining.
A political science and international business management major, Brown is one of three students from the Mid-Atlantic region selected to the board. His term on the board expires when he graduates from Emory & Henry.
Headquartered in Gaithersburg, Md., Sodexho provides food service to Emory & Henry as well as numerous other colleges and universities. Among its clients are some 6,000 other corporations, retirement centers, health care centers and military sites, including the U.S. Marine Corps.
