Discount Tire Co. has bought an outparcel in the Salisbury Village development off Jake Alexander Boulevard and plans a future tire retail store.
Cornelius developer Lane Yates, formerly of Salisbury, said the company paid $690,000 for “Pad No. 4.”
That outparcel is located between the strip center that includes Five Guys and the proposed Biscuitville, which is supposed to be built where Foster’s Prime Sirloin once stood.
Yates said he signed off on the renderings of Discount Tire Co.’s plans for the spot.
“We’ve been working with them for some time,” he said.
Discount Tire Co., based in Scottsdale Ariz., is the world’s largest independent tire and wheel retailer. It has 712 stores in 20 states, including 22 locations in North Carolina.
Discount Tire Co.’s closest stores to Salisbury include four in Charlotte, two in Winston-Salem, two in Concord and one in Mooresville.
Yates said he was glad to sell the outparcel in a challenging economy. He said his previous prediction that land prices are rising in Salisbury stays on target.
“Marketing remains key for Salisbury’s future,” he said.
Yates is marketing Salisbury Village on his Web site, www.yatesdevelopment.com, and says he’s getting key positions on MSN and Google with search terms such as “real estate investment.”
“This is an exciting time … and deploying today’s technology on all levels is key to all marketing plans,” he said in a press release.
Brian Purcell served as broker on the Discount Tire project. James L. Carter of Kluttz Reamer Hayes Randolph Adkins & Carter in Salisbury was the attorney.
