The Rowan County Democratic Party announces two very important events taking place Saturday.
The county party’s executive committee will meet at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Chambers on the second floor of the County Administration Building, 130 West Innes St.
The following constitute the County Executive Committee and are eligible to attend and vote: precinct chairs and vice chairs; county officers; chairs of auxiliary organizations; district and state executive committee members; all elected officials in both partisan and non-partisan offices who are registered Democrats; and the county party’s attorney.
At 10 a.m., the Rowan County Democratic Convention will convene in the same room. Candidates for office in the May 6 Democratic primary will make their appeals for votes, resolutions will be debated and voted upon and delegates to the district convention will be elected. This is an important step in electing delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colo., Aug. 25-28.
