Staff report
A plan for additional mini-storage units will go before the Rowan County Planning Board Tuesday night.
Cecil and Michelle Perry, of Azalea Drive, are seeking the rezoning of a 3.14-acre tract on N.C. 152 near the intersection of Faith Road and Organ Church Road. The owners are seeking rezoning from rural agricultural (RA) to commercial, business industrial. Rural agricultural zoning does not allow for mini-storage units.
The planning staff is recommending approval, but cautions that rezoning to commercial opens the property to a wide range of uses.
The board will also hear an update on the county’s new flood ordinance. A committee headed by Barbara Lomax has been studying the new flood plain maps and working to develop an ordinance.
Due to the observance of Memorial Day on Monday, the meeting has been moved to Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Cohen Administration Building, 130 W. Innes St.
