COOLEEMEE ó Residents were joined by curious visitors for Cooleemee’s Annual July 4th Lawnmower and Bicycle Parade on Friday.
(The only requirement to enter is that your lawnmower must be able to cut grass.)
O’Neal Lawncare’s entry won first prize, with numerous sixth generation Cooleemee children riding in tow. Children decorated their bicycles with red, white and blue to ride in the parade.
Mayor John Chandler and state Rep. Julia Howard waved to onlookers.
Free watermelon and ice cream cooled off spectators and parade entrants, and about 300 Civitan Club hotdogs were consumed.
