Rowan County’s newest school under construction was named for Ethan H. Shive, a Catawba College graduate who served as principal of Dukeville, Bostian and Faith schools.

Shive, who died 15 years ago, has three sons who became educators and are serving in area schools.

Shive also has three granddaughters who are teachers in the Rowan-Salisbury School System.
