CONCORD ó Trent Morgan has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of John Wade Huneycutt on Jan. 29, 2006.
Morgan entered his plea in Superior Court in Cabarrus County on Thursday.
He was sentenced to 180 to 225 months in the North Carolina Department of Corrections.
Huneycutt was murdered in his home at 50 Park Drive in Concord. After an extensive investigation, Morgan was arrested by investigators with the Concord Police Department on Sept. 17, 2007.

Concord Police will not file charges in the death of an Odell Drive man.
Police found James Nathaniel Mills, 52, of 220 Lincoln St., unresponsive in front of 299 Odell Drive on Aug. 16 at 3:15 p.m.
Mills was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators learned that he had been involved in a dispute with a female. Gilbert William Voorheis tried to intervene in the dispute and he and Mills began wrestling.
Both Mills and Voorheis fell off a ledge that was approximately 6 feet high by the roadway. Mills died as a result of his head striking the pavement. The medical examiner said the cause of death was the blow to the back of the head during the fall. There were no other injuries on Mills.
Investigators and the Cabarrus County District Attorney’s office are not filing any charges and are ruling the death an accident.
