CONCORD — A 34-year-old man died Saturday in a single-car crash after he lost control of his 1999 Acura and hit a drain culvert on Gold Hill Road.

Carlos Toledo Moreles, of 3082 Rimer Road, was traveling south about 7:15 p.m. After hitting the culvert, his car overturned several times and he was ejected.

“He was not wearing a seat belt,” a Highway Patrol spokesman said Monday.

The car rolled on top of Moreles, the spokesman said.

He died at the scene. There were no other passengers in the car.

Speed and alcohol are reported to be factors in the wreck, the spokesman said.

Toxicology reports are being conducted. No autopsy is expected.

Trooper G.A. Barber investigated the accident. Members of the Cabarrus County Rescue Squad responded along with Rimer and Gold Hill volunteer fire departments.
