CONCORD ó A Concord man died in a single-car crash near the intersection of Wilshire Avenue and Zion Church Road around 6 a.m. Monday. A witness told police that Aaron Eugene Mahatha, 50, of 2812 Trestle Court, was driving his 2001 Pontiac Grand Am down a hill on Rutherford Street and crossed the intersection of Wilshire Avenue without stopping for a stop sign. Mahatha ran off the roadway and hit an embankment.
Emergency responders tried to save Mahatha’s life at the scene. Authorities plan an autopsy. The Concord Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
